Zinc Sulfide – White Pigment for Glass Fiber–Reinforced Plastics

Chemikos zinc sulfide is a high-purity inorganic white pigment and represents a direct alternative to SACHTOLITH® HD-S. Through a special purification process, color-altering and pollutant-containing impurities are almost completely removed. The result is a product with excellent technical performance and versatile application possibilities – both in coatings and in plastic applications.

Crack-reducing effect:
The high thermal conductivity prevents local overheating and reduces stresses in the coating layer.

Improved UV curing:
The absorption behavior in the UV range supports a more uniform and deeper curing, resulting in more robust coatings.

Corrosion protection:
ZnS acts as a physical barrier against moisture and corrosive media, reliably protecting metallic substrates.

In polymer-based applications, Chemikos zinc sulfide demonstrates its strengths in several ways:
In contrast to TiO₂, ZnS shows lower hardness – a clear advantage in glass fiber-based applications (e.g. housing parts, technical components, and much more). Without zinc sulfide, there would be no glass fiber reinforced plastics.

Thermal management:
ZnS improves heat dissipation in plastic parts, for example in LED components or electronic housings.

Processing advantages:
Excellent dispersibility and high thermal stability support efficient production with consistent product quality.
